Aerial Fire Projects

Our technology driven goal has always focused on maximizing the ground line (length of the pattern on the ground) that can be protected using the least amount of retardant possible. In addition to the all-electric applications, Trotter Controls is currently developing hydraulically controlled firegates using the DataVault controls platform for various other airframes. The advances in performance, weight, and data gathering capability are serving to increase the effectiveness of the aircraft and improve the ability to coordinate authorities to manage fire operations.

FRDS GEN III

The extensive update to the FRDS system includes more than 270 lbs of weight reduction, all-electric operation, 25% more flow rate, integrated AFF tracking/ATU telemetry system, integrated foam injection control, and much simpler operation than previous systems.

DataVault

A high performance telemetry and data acquisition system tailored to meet the needs of the aerial firefighting community. This system captures proof of delivery data according to both NAFC and USFS requirements, provides real-time tracking via satellite, as well as advanced telemetry logging and analysis via USB flash drive.

DMS Digital Monitor

The DMS Digital Monitor & Controls System (DSPIC30F6014) unit provides LCD display of process parameters in real time and is suitable for a variety of display and control applications. One such application is the FireBoss Scoop Controller.

Simulators

Trotter Controls has developed several Windows-based simulators for use on computers over the years. These virtual simulators include the FRDS GEN II and GEN III installed on Air Tractor’s AT-802F, as well as 10 Tankers DC10 firegate.
